I was so looking forward to this film. I had heard great things about it (Oscar buzz, even) and I couldn't pass up a film with both Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal. My mom and I went to the movies, thinking we were going to meet up with the family to see Tangled, but when our showing was sold out, the family went home and we decided to see this film.

I should have just saved my money and went straight home. The story, the acting, the concept, everything was horrible. It has been awhile since I have left a film so disappointed...quite frankly, I'm not sure why either of us stayed the entire time. I won't go over the details (nothing interesting enough to spend my time on) but neither of the main characters made me want to care about them. When I see a film, I want to root for the people. I want them to have a happy ending, to learn a valuable lesson and to become a better person. However, for this particular film I could not care less about what happened to them. In fact, I thought the characters didn't deserve a happy ending and should have ended up alone.

If this film gets an Oscar nomination for any of the major categories (especially Best Picture) it's simply a space-filler. Jake and Anne are darlings of the Academy Board but in no way did their performances or this film garner any kind of esteemed recognition.

Aw. I wasn't that disappointed with it. I thought the acting was decent, but really it was just the overall story I disliked. I heart both Anne and Jake. (P.S. Have you seen their interviews? They need to become a real life couple. NOW. & Jake needs to ditch Swift. Agree?) The movie had a slow start. Both their characters weren't likable. But I thought it was decent enough to watch the entire film just so I could stare at Jake for two hours. Other than that, totally see where you're coming from. I wasn't disappointed, but it's not a film I'd purchase... or really redbox.

Yeah I think Jake and Anne have better chemistry OFF screen than they did on screen. I think part of it is that I've heard so many great things about the movie and was so looking forward to it. It was just completely disappointing. But yeah, Anne and Jake need to get together, like now.

Yeah-- Definitely was expecting it to be better than it was. & Yes, because I'm mostly sick of seeing pics of Taylor and Jake on my Tumblr dashboard. She's too immature for him. Ugh. Dislike them together. Mostly cause I'm jealous. Ha.
